As you may or may not know, about four years ago I decided I wanted to grow my hair long. It all started out quite innocently but ended up with me completely overhauling my approach to hair care.
When I began growing out my hair, it was in one of its worst states. I had just gone through a very grueling and traumatic surgery recovery, and as a result, my hair started falling out in clumps. I had to cut it into a short haircut to minimize the damage from the hair loss… but what I really wanted, I decided, was to grow my hair super long – the longest it’s ever been. Poring over Pinterest pins featuring girls with beautiful, thick, long hair, I decided I wanted that, too.
In growing my hair long, I came across several methods for growing hair faster – you can read about those methods here! One of the most important changes I made was to quit commercial hair products and find a natural alternative. I had seen a company called Morrocco Method written about by a few of my favorite bloggers and blogger friends, so I decided to try some of their products. I ended up loving them!! I now recommend the following products and for my readers and friends to check out their online shop.
My Favorite Morrocco Method Products
The product I want to mention first and foremost – my ultimate favorite Morrocco Method product – their high-quality boar bristle brush. I had learned about the benefits of boar bristle brushes and was searching high and low for a higher-end boar bristle brush (BBB). I came across the famous Mason Pearson BBB and my heart nearly stopped when I saw the price. (Curious? Check it out here.) I knew I would not be able to pay so much for a brush, no matter how high-quality it was. Boy, was I excited when I learned about MM’s natural boar bristle brushes. For a fraction of the price, I found my hair’s best friend. I have used this brush (the larger sized one) for about four years now and it has held up beautifully.
Why a boar bristle brush? Several reasons. The natural hairs are close in similarity to human hair, and BBBs promote healthy hair growth. They naturally redistribute your scalp’s oils down your hair for the BEST natural conditioner you can find (the free kind! 🙂 ) They add shine, prevent breakage and frizz, and believe it or not, boar bristle brushes actually CLEAN your hair! My hair’s oils were better balanced and my hair was smooth and soft to the touch. I can’t rave about them enough.

First coming out of the commercial hair products world, I had a ton of crud and buildup on my hair and scalp. The best thing I did, next to boar bristle brushing my hair, was to use MM’s Zen Detox Masque. This product is made of clays and herbs and other natural products and is highly effective at giving your hair and scalp a fresh start. Detoxing my scalp was a game changer for me.
What I love about Morrocco Method’s products is that they are so multi-use. You can use this masque also for a facial masque, you can use it as an oil absorbing powder, you can use it on insect bites and rashes to detox, and I’m sure there are other ways you can use it too.

Diamond Crystal Mist & Sapphire Volumizer Mist
These are spray-on, leave-in conditioners that have worked really well for my hair. Since I’m no longer applying silicones to my hair, I take extra care to moisturize and protect from damage, and these spray conditioners help. They don’t weigh my hair down, they smell lovely and all natural, and the Diamond Crystal Mist even contains liquefied quartz! I think that’s cool.
Speaking of multiple uses, you can even use these mists as: spray on natural deodorant, an aftershave spray, and even to set your makeup! Awesome. These are really some of my favorites, and my daughter loves spraying these on her hair. I love that they’re so natural and NO TOXIC INGREDIENTS.
Another favorite: Morrocco Method’s Blood of the Dragon Styling Gel. This is a lightweight, light hold gel that is totally free of toxic ingredients. Noticing a pattern here? 😉 This gel volumizes my hair, especially at its longer lengths when it wants to hang heavier. I can let my kids use it without worry. (Did you know gels and mousses are some of the harshest products you could put on your scalp? I so love that these are natural.)
I wanted to try this one for a heavier hold. It didn’t work out for my long hair – it ended up weighing it down. But! My three boys love styling their wet hair with this pomade which is nice and thick, almost like a putty. It has a stronger hold than the Blood of the Dragon Gel. Another one I love for my kids that I don’t have to worry about. I’m so glad that even though it didn’t work out for my hair length, it works great for them! If your hair is shorter, give this one a try!
Other Morrocco Method Products I have Tried:
I love these shampoos. They really do work. Remember, they are raw and all natural and will not lather like commercial shampoos will. So the washing experience is different, yet still good. The water in my area, for some reason, is super hard. I had trouble sticking with the shampoos and conditioners because of this. However, if you have hard water you can still give these a go, just soak your hair first with diluted apple cider vinegar water to neutralize some of the hardness of the water. And if you don’t have to mess with hard water or have a water filtering system, then I highly recommend trying these out. Check them out here to see which set will work best for your hair type.
I purchased a package of henna a few years ago, totally intending to dye my hair this natural way, giving new life to my hair and volume and shine. I had read about the difference between higher-quality henna and cheaper, inferior hennas, and that’s why I went with Morrocco Method’s henna. I trust this company’s sourcing and quality of ingredients. I never did end up using the henna… it’s still sitting in my kitchen pantry. :-/ But! If you’re looking into a more natural way to color your hair, without all the toxic ingredients, try Morrocco Method’s henna.
