Ditching shampoo. SO weird, right? I was completely averse to this idea at first – just very happy with my commercial shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, volumizer, hairspray, gel…. Whew.
I eventually did give it up though, and truly, I haven’t looked back. Except for one time when someone gave me an olive oil shampoo, and I didn’t read the ingredients closely. Yep, there were sulfates and all that garbage in the shampoo, and I ended up having an awful allergic reaction. My ears, face and neck broke out into a hot, itchy, swollen mess for several days, and I learned the hard way: no more shampoo for me, and READ THE STINKIN’ INGREDIENTS.
I applied diluted lavender and helichrysum essential oil which took away the itching when even Benadryl wouldn’t. (Why didn’t I try that first? duh!!) Anyway.
Some no poo methods are very simple, such as a baking soda dilution and a vinegar rinse, but sometimes something more familiar is easier to transition to, and stick with. Here are sixteen homemade shampoo recipes for you to try.

Note:
Even though I enjoy making homemade stuff, I don’t always have the time, opportunity, or motivation to mix something up. When that happens, I will use Morrocco Method products (SUPER clean and healthy shampoos, conditioners, serums, etc.), and sometimes Shea Moisture products for ease when I’m traveling. They have both worked wonderfully for me.
My favorite Morrocco Method products are actually their conditioners. You can find those here.
Morrocco Method makes a Diamond Crystal Mist conditioner, which is a leave-in conditioning spray. What I love best about this conditioner is that it actually has liquefied quartz incorporated into the ingredients along with some nourishing oils. I just love stuff like that. It really nourishes my hair. They also have a Sapphire Volumizing Mist conditioner, which is very similar, and my hair loves it! You can also use both of these sprays as a natural deodorant, or a makeup finishing spray. Cool.
Try any of these healthier shampoos or products out, homemade or pre-made, and see which work best for you!!

Hi Vicky, I wish I knew, but I don’t have any experience with making shampoo bars – I bet there are some great tutorials online or on youtube though. Best wishes <3
