Dehydrating is an amazing method of preserving food. I sometimes feel I can’t live without my dehydrator! 😉 Think of the times you have an overabundance of fruit or veggies on hand, and aren’t able to use them up before they go bad. Enter the dehydrator!
Dehydrating is a superior method of food storage in my book. You can save foods for much longer, without worrying about botulism like in canned goods. (I love canning, but botulism is a concern.)
Dehydrating shrinks foods, so they take up less space. You can dry so many different types of fruits, veggies, even meats and eggs and dairy!
It’s low-cost, and keeping food on the shelf doesn’t require any electricity such as, say, a freezer would.

My recommendation:
I decided I was going to invest in a heavier-duty model dehydrator than the one I had been using. You can certainly find dehydrators in many different places and in differing price ranges, but I knew we had a growing family and I was going to be dehydrating for years, so I went with this one. I have never regretted it for a second – it is the best dehydrator I have ever used, has been serving me well for years, and I highly recommend it, if you have the counter space and plan on dehydrating throughout the years. I didn’t even get the most expensive model and I have been very satisfied.

Also, don’t forget these non-stick dehydrator sheets, they are much cheaper here:
And I have enjoyed this book as a dehydrating reference.
Have a beautiful day, and happy dehydrating!
Danielle
